I find the wording here really interesting, especially given the dedication date.
In Novi Sad I spent a long time talking with a Serb who’d grown up in Bosnia. He made a point of dismissing the figure of eight thousand. Three or four thousand, now that he thought likely, but eight thousand dead was obviously propaganda.
You know, your picture may look like everybody else’s picture, but somehow some things are not real until you’ve been there yourself.
